As medical cannabis has become an increasingly established part of UK healthcare, clinics face a growing challenge: sourcing clinicians who not only meet regulatory requirements, but who also possess the clinical confidence, governance awareness and practical experience needed to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.

CannPrescribe was created to bridge this gap. We are the UK’s only recruitment agency dedicated exclusively to connecting medical cannabis clinics with highly qualified, clinic-ready prescribers. Our focus is on quality, compliance and continuity - supporting clinics and clinicians to operate safely, professionally and with confidence in a highly regulated clinical environment.

We work closely with both clinics and clinicians to ensure placements are not only operationally efficient, but clinically appropriate, ethically sound and aligned with best practice. From comprehensive training and vetting through to ongoing professional support, our approach is designed to strengthen the clinical foundations of UK medical cannabis services.
Founded by Clinical Experience
Dr David Tang
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
CannPrescribe was founded by Dr David Tang, a Consultant in Emergency Medicine with over five years’ experience working within the UK medical cannabis sector.
​
Dr Tang graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ in 2007 and became a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in 2021. His clinical career has included work with the military and elite sports teams, alongside a longstanding focus on patients whose needs are not adequately met by conventional treatment pathways.
​
Over recent years, Dr Tang has worked across multiple UK medical cannabis clinics, prescribing cannabis-based medicinal products for patients with musculoskeletal and chronic conditions that have proven resistant to standard treatments. Through this work, he gained a first-hand understanding of both the potential of medical cannabis - and the operational challenges faced by clinics operating largely through remote models of care.

As the sector expanded rapidly, Dr Tang observed a growing mismatch between the number of clinics entering the market and the availability of clinicians with the specialist knowledge, governance awareness and clinical confidence required to prescribe safely and consistently. He founded CannPrescribe in response to this need - to establish a reliable, clinically informed recruitment pathway that prioritises patient safety, regulatory compliance and professional standards.
Katrina Boulton
Nurse Lead | Advanced Clinical Practitioner & Advanced Nurse Prescriber
Katrina Boulton is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Advanced Nurse Prescriber specialising in medical cannabis, with 16 years’ experience across a broad range of clinical settings.
​
She began her healthcare career as a Healthcare Assistant before qualifying as a Registered Adult Nurse from Teesside University in 2017. Her early nursing experience included A&E trauma nursing and palliative care, before specialising in chronic pain as a Neuromodulation Pain Sister.
​
Katrina subsequently moved into medical cannabis, initially working as a Clinical Nurse Adviser before progressing to Lead Nurse and CQC Registered Manager within the sector. Her experience spans both clinical practice and the development and delivery of high-quality patient care within medical cannabis services.
​
Alongside her extensive clinical experience, Katrina has continued to develop her specialist knowledge through postgraduate education, including a PgCert in Epilepsy Nursing, an MSc module in Neuromodulation, an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and a V300 non-medical prescribing qualification.
​
As an Advanced Nurse Prescriber within medical cannabis, Katrina brings together her diverse nursing experience with a compassionate, holistic approach to patient care. She is passionate about ensuring that patients receiving prescription medical cannabis have the same high standard of clinical support, education and ongoing care that they would expect from any conventional healthcare treatment.

As CannPrescribe's Nurse Lead, Katrina is also focused on supporting the development of nurses entering the medical cannabis field and helping to establish high standards of clinical practice and professional development across the sector.
